Our new houseThis section of the web site was dedicated to the building of what we hoped would be our new house. Unfortunately, thanks to the unscrupulous actions of Total Property Development Ltd. (Wellingborough), we're not having it anymore. In a nutshell: we paid a £1000 deposit to (allegedly) secure the property at the agreed price. About two months into the process, at the beginning of January 2003, they told us they wanted another £10,000. Then, whilst we were considering this, they changed the internal layout of the house without consulting us, or telling anyone else (including the estate agent!), and chopped down a tree we'd specifically told them to keep. Basically, we then didn't trust the developer (thanks very much Deryck Wicks!), and pulled out. If they blatantly ignored agreements and wishes at that stage, we couldn't guarantee to get what we asked for. So, we went back to house hunting and found another property - click here to see it. We finally moved in on 20th June 2003 and are very happy with it. UPDATE: We have since heard through the grapevine that the people that DID buy the new house have had no end of problems, and had to call the builders back more than once. A lucky escape!FWIW, this is the artists impression of what the original house would have/will look like
